Two charter buses with activists from Detroit arrived at the rally about an hour after it started on 200 North Main Street.
Protesters want the male student, who told university officials it was a Halloween prank, publicly identified and to face charges.
"This is not a black and white issue. It's an everybody issue. We are taking a stand. This man has to have his day in court," said Kierre Majors, a senior at CMU who helped organized the march and rally.
The protesters endured a steady wet snow fall and cold temperatures as speakers took turns addressing the crowd from a podium and microphone provided by the county. CLICK HERE TO READ REST OF STORY

Richard Roberts Finally Resigns
TULSA, OK - 11/24/07 - On November 24 2007 the Tulsa world reports that Richard Roberts resignation has finally been submitted. The National Council for Community Empowerment protested Roberts on Tuesday, delivering a letter they say is on behalf of some ORU students, although they did not give their names. The letter calls for the end of what the group calls "nepotism and self-indulgent leadership" at the university.
The group is also attacking Roberts’ defense on accusations against him.
"We don't think that the God defense works anymore. It's kind of like the race defense," said Pastor David Bullock, Chair of the National Council for Community Empowerment. "We believe that the allegations are very sincere, very serious, students are speaking out, they're signing an online petition even right now as we speak." CLICK HERE FOR ENTIRE STORY

NO MORE SUBPRIME LOANS PRODUCTS
Brother and Sisters,
Countrywide Home Loans is the largest culprit in giving out subprime loans. These loans have devestated communities and families in Michigan. Most communities across the country are experiencing the highest foreclosure rates that this country have seen in years because of these predatory practices and loan structures that are harmful to low income and first time borrowers. The president says that he will create a bail out plan that will "jawbone" the lenders into renegotiating the terms. Let's get real, this is only a ploy to keep the loans in the hedge funds safe from loss.
Countrywide Mortgage, Subprime products need to be eliminated NOW!!!

Community Empowerment Conference 2007
THEME: URBAN VIOLENCE AND URBAN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Rev. Williams II
Violence was present in the 1800s in New York City when Irish and Italian immigrants found themselves as second-class citizens, oppressed and living in poverty, Perry said. The difference is that the immigrants "learned to be white and moved up the social ladder,'' he said. Today, blacks and Latinos, unable to become white, remain stuck in a cycle of poverty for generations, Perry said.
Rev. AD Givens, Rev. Charles Williams and Dick Gregory
Other speakers at the conference included civil rights activist Dick Gregory and Virgie Rollins, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee Black Caucus. The daylong conference was organized by the Rev. Charles E. Williams II, president of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment. The Detroit-based community group aims to confront urban violence and poverty.
The community empowerment council is promoting "Peace in the Hood''; a campaign to commit 100,000 black men to improving their neighborhoods by joining or forming block clubs, neighborhood watch groups and other neighborhood improvement groups. For information on "Peace in the Hood,'' visit www.im4justice.com or call 313-344-9014.
